Projects


Rotary Club has different projects to serve the society. There are 3 projects to support 3 schools for water and sanitation projects.

District Simplified Grant

This year our District 3292 has announced to construct toilets and water supply improvement projects . This Club has identified 3 schools as needy school to built toilet and water supply for students. The MOU has been signed by three parties: District, Club and Schools. The fund for this project has been already released by District 3292.

1. Ananta Sikshya Jyoti Primary School, Mt. Makalu Basti Dharan 11
This School is situated in the western part of Dharan. This school is run by community supported by Municipality funds and other grants. This school is in the slum areas. School management committee has decided to upgrade it to 8 grades in coming years. School has limited resources and it needs to construct toilet for their 200 existing and more students in new grades in coming year. they only have one toilet in school.

2. Panchkanya High School, Dharan 17, Railway
This school is in the Railway Chowk. The school is recently upgraded to Higher Secondary School. Though it has limited resources to construct good sanitation infrastruture, they has old and almost not usable Toilet for more than 700 students. This school is becoming a larger student accomodating school in this area since other schools are far away from here. This school has been selected to dismantle the old toiled (urinal) and construct Urinal for students.

3. Janata Primary School, Khoriya Basti, Dharan 15
This School is in the far south east part of Dharan. This School is also run by the community people and funds from Municipality. School situated in slum area. it has very limited resource for its need. School has constructed a toilet for students, but there is not any provision for storage of water. There is a water supply tap for community people and school just next to the school building. After finishing this project, the school will have stored water for students and teachers.

Matching Grants

Club has prepared some projects to provide services to the people. There are 2 matching grants on pipelines which are partnered by international partners. For the Project 1 and 2 is matched and joint project of Rotary club of Si Ji and District 3700 of Republic of Korea.

1. Community Library Computer Project
This project is to provide computers for community libraries with Internet facility. In this project Sarvajanik library at Chhata chowk and other major libraries in Dharan will be benefited. After finishing the project libraries will have equipped with computers and internet facilities. Libraries are expected to levy membership fee from members and provide free internet browsing for certain segment of time. This project is led by Rtn. Sunil Nepal.

2. Prostate Cancer Screening Project
There are possibility of Prostate Cancer for 50 year and above male is very high. There are not any program to address this issue to provide awareness among the village people to check the prostate regularly for identifying incoming threat of Cancer. If diagnosed early the cancer can be cured and stopped in early stage. The Matching Grant Project is designed by this Club which will be headed by Charter president Rtn. Prof. Dr.  C.S. Agrawal and technical support from BPKIHS doctors will screen and test the specimen from 2000 volunteer village people in the 4 district of east Nepal.

3. Spinal Brace Project
This project is ongoing project of Club partnered by Rotary Club of Bellevue, Washington, USA. District 5030 has a national campaign against discrimination and harted for disabled people. This project help people injured in spinal region to prevent disability. IPP Dr. Bikram Prasad Shrestha is providing his technical leadership for this project and 43 patients had been already distributed with spinal braces.

4. Cleft Leap Palate(खुँडे ओठ तालु) Project
This project is also another ongoing project of Club partnered by Rotary Club of Bellevue. This Project headed by Rtn. Dr. Alok Sagtani. Project has already supported operation for 11 children to correct with Clef Leap Palate problem.
